Troubleshooting
Why Is This Failing?
Use this incident-focused guide to diagnose tier blocks, column format mismatches, automation pauses, and access issues.
Incident Triage Flow
- Confirm account tier and trial status.
- Validate source board count and per-board row limits.
- Check filter field count (max 4) and join key quality.
- Inspect target board column types and mapping assumptions.
- Review schedule state and pause reason.
Frequent Failures and Fixes
Symptom: “Cannot run pivot” after subscription downgrade.
Cause: Template was soft-locked due to saved pivot cap.
Fix: Delete excess pivots or upgrade plan; locked pivots auto-unlock on qualifying upgrade.
Symptom: Prefetch rejected with limit error.
Cause: More than 4 preload filter fields configured.
Fix: Reduce to 4 fields or fewer and retry.
Symptom: Update to target board fails.
Cause: Output field type does not align with target monday column type.
Fix: Recheck column mapping and target board column formats, then rerun.
Symptom: Schedule stopped running after plan change.
Cause: Schedule paused for downgrade compatibility.
Fix: Upgrade to compatible tier or reconfigure frequency based on current plan.
Pro-tip: If a run fails at writeback, test by writing to a clean summary board with known column types first.
MCP Access Issues
- Basic plan does not include MCP execution.
- Pro and Ultimate include MCP capabilities.
- If previously available actions disappear, confirm active subscription tier sync.
- If automation is unavailable, follow MCP Manual Setup and Recovery.
Escalation Checklist for Support

Usually, your monday login email + account name is enough for us to locate the right account records and investigate quickly.
Helpful details
- Your monday login email address.
- Your account/workspace name as shown in monday.
- Template Pivot name you ran.
- Rough time of failure and your timezone.
- What you clicked when it failed (for example: “Send to Board” or “Save”).
- The error message you saw (screenshot is perfect).
If you also have your account ID, include it, but it is optional for first contact.
Did you know? Cross-account access is intentionally blocked; a missing resource may indicate account-bound ownership protection.
